What You Need:
- 16 ounces milk chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 1 pound fresh strawberries with leaves
- 8 ounces of white chocolate chips
- Styrofoam sheet
- Toothpicks
What You'll Need To Do:
- Insert toothpicks into the tops of the strawberries.
- In a double boiler, melt the milk chocolate and shortening, stirring occasionally until smooth. (Tip: Chocolate can be a bit tricky to work with. To avoid it from becoming too thick, when melting over a double boiler, don't let the water touch the bottom of your upper pan. heat until only 1/2 of the chocolate is melted, then remove from heat and stir gently until it is all melted.)
- Holding them by the toothpicks, dip the strawberries into the chocolate mixture so they are 3/4 coated.
- Turn the strawberries upside down and insert the toothpick into the styrofoam for the chocolate to cool. If you don't have a block of styrofoam, lay down on wax paper. Strawberries should be kept at room temperature.
- Melt the white chocolate in a separate pan. Once melted, coat a toothpick in the melted white chocolate and drizzle or swirl over the chocolate coated strawberries.
- Once the chocolate is completely hardened, it is ready to serve.
